Kenagh GFC Notes 05/11/2012

Lotto 04/11/2012: The numbers drawn were 23, 24, 27 & 28. There were no match three winners and so four names were drawn from the drum. They are Paddy Ganly, Ray O’Boyle, Thomas Farrell & Mary McDonald. They receive 20 euro each.
Next week’s jackpot is 15,000 euro and the draw will be held in Leavy’s.
Our Under-21′s played against Abbeylara in the second round of the championship on Sunday last. This was a really great match to watch with plenty of drama and excitement. Abbeylara started the strongest and were helped by a pretty strong wind in the first half. They managed to gain a six point lead on two occasions only to be brought back to two points on both occasions. Excellently taken goals from Dan Carberry & Rory Connor helped to narrow the gap in the first half and excellent points from the boots of Kyle Fitzmorris & Aidan Carberry helped to keep Kenagh/Moydow in touch. In the second half, Abbeylara came out strongly and managed to create a six point gap for the third time. After that, Kenagh/Moydow started to dominate for the remainder of the game. They bridged the six point gap with some fine play by midfielder, Alan Jones, and substitute, Ian McEntee. McEntee caused a lot of trouble for the Abbeylara defence and ran through for a sublime goal to narrow the gap to a single point. Kenagh then drew level with a point from Rory Connor. The game ended in a draw with a scoreline of Kenagh/Moydow 3-6 Abbeylara 0-15. Well done to the lads for delivering such a great performance and an entertaining game for the supporters. Also, well done to the management, Enda McGann, Michael McCormack & Joseph McGann. The lads will now have to wait to see the results of the game between Abbeylara & Rathcline to see who will progress to the latter stages of the championship.

Kenagh GFC Notes 10-09-2012

Our inaugral 10K Run & 5K Walk was held on Sunday, September 9th last. A lot of organisation and preparation went into this event and we were glad to see that this was a success for the club. A lot of competitors travelled to this event and there were some very impressive times posted for the winners. We would like to take this opportunity to say well done and thank you to everybody who got involved on the day from competitors to organisers. We want to say thank you also to the stewards and people who provided the refreshments and also to all of the families who took part in the walk. Thank you also to everybody who got sponsorship for the event. We got some positive feedback on the day and we would be hoping to build on this and make this an annual event.
Lotto 9th September 2012: The numbers drawn were 1, 5, 11 & 27. There were two match three winners. They are Margaret Fitzgerald c/o Dara McGann & Sharon McNamara. They each win 40 euro. Next week’s jackpot is 14,800 euro and the draw will be held in Leavy’s.
Hard luck to our Senior team who were comprehensively beaten by a very impressive Longford Slashers team last week. This was probably the final game in the league for the team and we would like to take this opportunity to thank the lads for training hard and putting in some good performances in the league this year. This was our first year back in the senior ranks for some time and the team acquitted themselves very well. If we had a bit of luck, some of those games could have gone our way and the year would have a different complexion. Unfortunately, it was not meant to be and so we will have to try even harder for promotion again next year.
